March of Dimes Raffle Winners!

First off, of course I want to thank EVERYONE who donated! I still am in shock that we raised More than $1000 for March of Dimes! ($1145 to be exact!). The money is transferred and in the wonderful charity's possession!

I just came up with this little idea to get my mind off of myself, and on helping others. I'm so happy that so many people chipped in to give their products for this raffle, and that SO MANY of you donated... More than 60 of you! THANK YOU! I know I already have you a big thank you here. But I wanted to do it again!

Now to the 45 prizes! I know some of you may be wondering how the winners were chosen. Basically I wrote all of your donations down in the order they were received, and numbered the amount of tickets you bought in that order. For example if Stephanie and Julie were first and second to donate and Stephanie donated $20 and Julie donated $10 I did it like this:
Stephanie 1-20
Julie 21-30

And so on! I went all the way up to 1135 to choose the winners. There were a few people who got selected more than twice because they took up about 100 numbers (ie: 251-350) But as I stated in the original post, to be fair, I would limit people being able to win only twice. I wish everyone could have won :( know that you have done a WONDERFUL service by donating to a charity, and your money will go towards saving a baby. I will, however honor the bows/ bandanna promise for every $15 you donated.

Speaking of the bows... I quickly did the math and realized I'll have to make over 90 headbands and bows. That's A LOT of time, and a lot I'll be spending to ship them out, so if you don't get them right away don't stress!

If you haven't told me already, please let me know if you'd prefer bows or the bandanna. I'll try to email people to confirm but that could take some time too. If I don't hear from you I may forget so please let me know! I know a couple of you have mentioned you don't need either, if that's the case please let me know too!

Now on to the raffle winners... I kind of get to feel like Oprah again, except I feel bad cause not everyone won.

I have all of your addresses because of Paypal, if your address is wrong PLEASE LET ME KNOW! I'm going to TRY to confirm with everyone before I get your address to the sponsor but that will take a longer time for me to get to everyone. You can email me at: BabyMakingMachine{at}gmail.com

If you'd like to pass on your prize let me know that too so I can choose another winner. I'm sure you will all love your prizes though, and if not for you... All of these make great gifts!

The 23rd Birthday

I woke up today thinking "Well how did I do in that poll?" I went to bed last night seeing I had about a 14 vote lead. I woke up this morning seeing I had lost by 6 votes! 6 votes! We tied with a 31% lead... More than 200 votes ahead of the 3rd place blog.

I turned in a couple of hours early last night. I finished my campaigning around 10 pm...I was secretly hoping one of the other blogs would pull a Mitt Romney and endorse me. I'm pretty sure most of my work friends who voted for me either didn't know what a Mormon was, or didn't know what a blog was.. so thank you guys for chipping in! Thank you everyone else too who voted for me, and voted from multiple computers! I'll forever love you! The blog that beat me by six votes is a very crafty mommy blog, so if you're into that...

Anyway, I was happy with how I did. I've only had this blog for a month and a half and look at all of you wonderful people visiting! This is great! Maybe one day when I've been blogging for years and years and ACTUALLY have kids, I'll be more popular and win the dang contest. Anyway, I'm not bitter or anything.

I worked today. After work I went for another trip to Brazil. I almost chickened out but the receptionist talked me into sticking to my plan. I still requested the bite towel but I didn't need it as much this time. I'm telling you ladies, a lot of you say you couldn't do this... If you can have a kid you can do this! I can't imagine it being the same amount of pain. Plus, this is over in about 15 minutes!

My hub-a-lub surprised me with flowers at work today! Pink roses! If you couldn't tell pink is my favorite color. We went to our spot, Olive Garden, for dinner. Yum!

That's about all! Feeling a little under the weather and hoping I can kick it before my CRUISE Saturday! Woo! I recommend one if you haven't done one before! Went on one for my honeymoon, it was a 3 night cruise, a blast, and I'm super excited about this one.

You know how when you first get married you think everything is going to be all cute and perfect... Oh, that was just me? Well the whole time I was on our honeymoon cruise I couldn't wait to get home and decorate out apartment, set up the appliances and start cooking. Three weeks later I was ready for another vacation and four years later I'm finally getting around to it!

Guess what?!? I successfully made some cute baby bows! I'm soooo proud! You guys are going to love them! Want to see a picture of my first one? Ok!

I like the interchanging flowers and I'll do at least 2 per set! I am excited to have homemade stuff as a part of my first giveaway while I'm gone... Details posting on Saturday!

I'm off to enjoy the rest of my birthday, thanks again for your continued reads and comments... I never stop loving them! And once I get back I'll be a full-fledged replier too!

The First Giveaway

Since I'm going to be gone for a week I'm leaving you with something kinda fun.

As promised I'm having my first contest/giveaway! I hope you like it! Here's what you'll get!:
-3 Handmade crocheted baby hair bows... Made by yours truly! I'll include 3 interchanging bows so you can mix and match!
-Chocolate covered mints (my favorite)
-Pretty scented body lotion OR Pretty scented bath beads (I like to smell good)
-A pink (my favorite color, sorry) photo album
-Baby oil *wink* (be creative people)
-What I thought was a baby chew toy but it's actually a Tigger gel pack for owies OR A soft green baby blanket
-And we can't forget our furry friends! You'll also get a cute doggie bandanna and a dog (or cat) picture frame (not pictured)
-Finally, you get to keep the nice decorative basket that it all comes in!
*Disclaimer, you have to send me a pic of either your baby in a cute hair bow or the blanket or something, if you win! I want to see my craft in action!
And if you're like me, and don't have human spawn, but also have no urgent need for baby bows and don't want to use them as gifts, perhaps I'll exchange it for a cute dog collar hand made by muah! You can see photos of what I make at JustFurDoggies.

What you have to do to enter:
-Follow me (click the link on the right) and/or put a link to me on your blog
-Post a comment on this post telling me you did it! How easy! Right?

-You can get an extra entry if you link to this contest post and let me know!

I'll have a drawing when I get back on the 24th. Ok... Maybe on the 25th (give me a day ok?) Let's say you have until midnight the night of the 24th to enter. Then I'll put all of the names in a bag and draw not one but TWO winners! Woohoo, aren't you excited? Your chance of winning just doubled (is that the right math? I have no idea).

So good luck! Have fun and tell your friends (or don't if you're worried they'll beat you). I Hope you win!

The Winners...

Thanks so much to all of your who participated in my first giveaway! Unfortunately I'm not the craftiest person right now as far as kiddo things go, and I have nothing really cool for little boys yet but I hope these bows will find a fun place in your home or make a good gift! Plus there's lots of fun stuff for mommy!

I did a video drawing since only 18 people entered and it wasn't necessary to use random.com or anything like that. Please excuse my looks... I Don't feel a need to get all done up my last few days of vacation... I'm enjoying the non-makeup days. Oh and excuse my reporterish nod at the end... Habit I guess.

If you can't see it: Congrats Randi, mother of Hudson and Jenna mother of Audrey! Email me your info and I'll mail your basket off this week!

I'm sorry if you didn't win. I never win these things either so don't feel bad! I'm planning on having a fun contest once I get to my 100th post, so in about a month or so... I'm thinking picture contest but we'll see. I have a month to think of something cool and develop another craft. Any ideas?

In other news... I'll post part 2 and 3 of my trip over the next couple of days. Oh yea, get excited.

The Thank-you!: Another Giveaway!

I'm not sure if it was my wits, my crazy questions, or my recent unintentionally "controversial" string of posts, but whatever it was... It got me to 100 followers! I thought this day would never come. It was just two moths ago that I was begging a couple of close friends to click the button to the right of the screen to show I had some sort of "fan base." It gave me courage to post. But the more I wrote the more it became about me truly wanting advice and help, and less about who was reading. Now I have a group of wonderful people who offer tips and words of encouragement on a daily basis (and I swear that comment tracker is playing with my mind, I know some of you have said way more that those records show).

Anyway, I'm excited for this prize because it's something not just for mommies or moms with girls/boys. It's a beautiful diaper wipe case from LucaBellaDesigns! How original right? I haven't seen anything like this myself. It's soft, discreet, and most of all, adorable! I actually really wanted to keep this for myself because it would work if I have a boy or girl, and heck... I can use it now and keep Clorox wipes in there... Or just to clean up after my own messy self. But I thought in honor of my 100 followers, I'd give it away! The picture doesn't really do it justice. (Oh and there's wipes in it already too just so you know...I mean I'm sure now you want it even more).
So, dear followers, all you have to do to enter is: Leave a comment either with some motherhood advice, or a topic you'd be interested in me writing about or a question you'd like to ask me.

That pretty much leaves it wide open! If you're not a follower you can still enter ;o) But Followers get 2 entries (make sure you let me know in the comments section if you follow).

If you so desire you can Tweet about this contest and let @babymakinmachin know for an extra entry. If you do something else to get the word out about the contest just let me know in a comment and it'll count as an extra entry.

While you're at it, say what's up to Rachel at Little Bites of Heaven. She has 4 adorable kids, 3 of them are triplets! She (and her little girl Ella) made this giveaway possible!

I'll use random.org to select the winner on Tuesday March 31st.
Good luck!
Thank you to Sweeties Sweeps for listing my blog giveaway.

The Easter Weekend Giveaway

Sorry for being such a Debbie Downer the past few days. I'm beginning to feel a lot better. I'm excited for church tomorrow too... Easter programs are always so nice.

I'm going to try to make it up my poopyness to you today ok? I got two new sponsors, with unique prizes for giveaways that will be sure to get you excited!

First, you know those cute baby announcements you get when your friends are having babies? Maybe you even did some of your own! I love getting the cute little pictures in the mail with all the details of the new little bundle of joy. I love sending out cards and I think for sure this is something I'll want to do whenever I have a baby. 5StarBaby has CUTE and WAY original designs in the theme of Movie Posters! How cute is that? My hubby and I are big into movies so I think something like this would be fitting for us.

Well 5starbaby is giving one of you your own announcement design. And what's even better... You DON'T have to be a mommy to want to win!! Cause they do wedding/birthday party/anniversaries, ALL KINDS of announcements for any of life's milestones! Woohoo! Ok... I'm not trying to sound like a commercial here or anything cause I'm not getting money or anything for this, but YOU CAN!... Just check out 5starbaby.com leave a comment here telling me what kind of announcement you'd like to use one of these for and I'll draw a random number, and winner gets a digital file of their announcement! Cool no? It's a $95 value :)

Ok, but my giveaway doesn't end there... As you know I'm OBSESSED with cute baby bows... And all sorts of hair things for little girls. Well, I have some more to give away! But these are different... A few of my friends with little girls have told be it can be IMPOSSIBLE to keep cute little bows on your little girl's hair. Well, MacyMae Clippies has a no-slip grip that WORKS (no really, I had a friend try it for me, it does!) It has a clear gel grip that keeps it put! The picture here is just on example of the cute designs she makes. Just head over to MacyMae Clippies and tell me in my comments section which kind you like best. If you win, she'll send you your favorite design!

So there ya go! Check out those site and let me know what you think for your first entry. If anything else overwhelms you stop reading! If you want more entries, keep reading.

-Leave another comment if you follow me for another entry!
-Yet another if you tweet about the giveaway on Twitter or your blog or something of that sort (one entry for each)
-And finally, leave another comment with motherhood/pregnancy advice or a topic you'd like me to blog about for another entry.

Have fun and good luck! I'll close this giveaway April 25th.

The Cloth Diapers

In my quest of "what's crunchy?" I got a HUGE response... Actually my biggest one yet. A lot of women gave me their opinions of what makes a woman crunchy and why they choose to live that way. Some things REALLY intrigued me, and others made me think "No way!" I talked to my husband about a few of the ideas and one of them was the notion to try using cloth diapers. His answer was pretty much an immediate "no way."

If there's one thing I've heard over and over in my pre-pregnancy state it's "diapers are expensive." And "start stalking up once you know your pregnant." Well unless I want to keep a towel around my baby or invest in a lot of carpet shampoo, I think I'm obviously going to with some form of diaper... But which is cheaper? I've heard people say cloth diapers are WAY less expensive more eco-friendly, and better for the bottom. And I've heard others say the water and energy you use cleaning them make up for the difference. Now time is money, so if I'm spending hours upon hours cleaning dirty diapers it probably will get old...(evil grin) But I do have a husband, and I've only done laundry a handful of times in my 4.5 years of marriage... So I'm counting on the fact that I won't have to worry about that, if we so choose this path.

The next item to consider is appearance. When I imagined cloth diapers I pictured literally a soft washcloth-like material safety-pinned around the baby's bottom. Something like this:Well little did I know things are more advanced nowadays, and cloth diapers can actually look like REAL diapers, and have nice velcro, patterns and tags, the whole nice yards! I recently learned how to sew. I learned because I wanted to make matching dog collars and leashes for Snoop. That's all I can make though. The thought of sewing any kind of clothing item terrifies me, much less a cute diaper. But it would be SO FUN to make diapers for my kids... I think. Probably until they poop in them, then I'd probably want to throw it away.-- Then again maybe I wouldn't because of all the TIME it took me to make!-- Now I'm on to something... If I MAKE the diapers I won't want to throw them away (cause I'd probably throw away something I bought).

I came across Amber's website DiaperKit.com and honestly, I think I could do this... And if I can do it, anyone can do it! What I hate most about sewing is all of the cutting, and what's nice about these is that all the material is already cut and ready, you just sew it together! The kits start as low as in the $5 range. Imagine how many diapers you could make and wash and save and use on future babies! Hmmm... Whatdoyathink?

I know there's quite a few women who read my blog who are ALL for cloth diapers. I've also connected with quite a few on Twitter and I'm really interested in why you choose (or don't choose) this path.

Either if you do, or are considering it Amanda and I have a little gift for you. Anyone who purchases one of her diaperkits or pre-made diapers between now and May 21st will get a 10% discount. She also donated an adorable pre-made diaper that is so cute it actually made me think I am going to try these things... At least one. It's worth a try right? How about you win it and give it a try! It's a size small so it can fit babies 10-20 pounds. It's white, 100% cotton, and super absorbent! You don't need a diaper cover with this cause it's all in one! It also has an adorable little tag on the front that says "I Love Cloth."

So shop around, leave a comment here and let me know what kit or diaper you like best and why you use or would consider using cloth diapers. That's your entry. I'll draw a winner from randomizer.org on May 9th! If you don't and don't want to use them, still tell me why! I want to know both sides :)
You can get extra entries by:
-Being a follower of my blog

-Tweeting or Facebooking etc. this post

-Blogging about this post
-Have or grab my button and put it on your blog!

Please leave me a comment for each extra entry. Giveawat ends 5/9 Good Luck!

The Labor Fascination

I was 11 when I was in the delivery room while my little sister was born. Oh yea, I watched it all... Come to think of it, I'm not sure why my mom did that to us. I mean, I think birth is a beautiful thing, but I'm pretty sure I didn't know babies came out that way.--Actually while I'm writing this, I'm remembering a demonstration my dad did with my little toy cat called Kitty Surprise! It was a stuffed cat that had three kittens inside. You'd get the kittens out through the Velcro at the stomach-area. My dad took the toy, told me they didn't come out that way, and proceed to demonstrate them coming out of what looked like the butt-area.... I didn't believe him. A few years later that theory was confirmed at my sister's birth.

Since then, I think, I've always had a fascination with births and from "I didn't know I was pregnant" to "A Baby Story" to "Bringing Home Baby" I'm there. Even Especially for all that bloody gory stuff!

I know it's strange, but I tell people all the time if I wasn't a journalist I'd be an OBGYN. Yea... I'd deliver babies! ...Too bad I'm not smart and I hate math. Other than that I think I'd love it! For some people the thought of labor scares them more than any other part of having kids. To me, that's probably the best part. I think the whole pregnancy, baby, mother-baby bond is just fascinating!

To be honest, I didn't really even consider home birth or anything of that sort until I started this blog and began meeting other women who have experienced that. Now the only big thing that turns me off to that idea is the pain--No biggie right? I hate pain. And to be honest I'm not sure I could handle not getting an epidural.

I talked to my mom about it, she delivered me naturally without medication, but with the rest of my siblings she got the epidural--And recommended I don't mess around and just do the same thing.

Going with this... I decided to watch The Business of Being Born. Everyone kept telling me how good of a documentary it is so I decided to give it a whirl last night. Once I got over the initial shock of seeing screaming naked women (cause usually on TLC they've got it all blurred out) it was quite fascinating as well.

Although it seemed a bit biased to me, it did turn me on a little more to the idea of something like a birth center--Maybe. I always thought since I have good insurance, why go to something like that? But then I noticed some of the women in the movie had OB's they went to at the hospital that were kind of their "back up." That made me feel more interested in different options because it's like having two doctors. But just as quickly as that thought came to my mind, a woman in the movie started screaming and I change my mind again. If these women... Women who wanted and planned to have a birth naturally were moaning/screaming in pain, crying and saying they couldn't do it. How am I suppose to deal with something like that?!

The up side to me seems to be when the baby comes out. I love how even though they're all sticky and kinda gross-looking they go straight in mommy's arms. It's so animalistic, natural and I LOVE that. It kind of made me sad, even on "A Baby Story" today when the baby was whisked away to be weighed and cleaned and stuff before the mom got to hold it. Another woman in the documentary grabbed her baby right out of herself, and while it was slightly weird, it was strangely cool too. I wonder if all that pain immediately goes away once you hear and see the baby or if I'd be like "Umm, I can't look at you for a moment, you hurt me."

It would be cool to say "I did it naturally" but I don't know if I'd be able to do it. I'm not sure if the home birth thing is for me... And I'm not sure what my husband would think. I imagine he'd think like the husband/dad/football player I just watched on this show who was like "I don't want all that stuff coming out all over the bed... I've gotta sleep there!"

Speaking of husbands, I've heard some of my friends say they don't want their husbands watching "down there" during labor, for fear they won't want to doit anymore. All I've gotta say is--Not only is my husband going to be watching he's going to be video taping the whole thing (my choice not his)! So the place I deliver DOES have to be a place that allows video cameras cause Lawd knows I've watched enough labors and I want to be able to see my own... Don't worry, I won't play it for you when you come over, I just think it would be cool for me to see later... Again with the fascination. Perhaps I'll even show it to my kids so they WON'T want to go down the "getting pregnant before you'd 'pose to road"... Hey, it worked for me!

But there are so many options.. Water birth looks kind of cool too! I don't know though. I imagine I'll just plan on a hospital cause I HATE pain! And that's pretty much my #1 goal as of now--As painless as possible. Hopefully I'll find a nice one that is cozy and whatnot and can feel like home.-- Maybe I'll even stalk it a lot beforehand so it does feel more homey.

I think I'm going to be one of those sorta-crazy extra-informed people who does a lot of research, reads a lot of books and talks to a lot of professionals before I make my final decision. Yea... I think this is only the beginning of my fascination. Maybe I'm over-thinking it, but one point I thought the documentary made was that a lot of people spend more time choosing a house, or car or TV than they do deciding on how to bring their baby into this world. Umm, just based on this blog alone I DOUBT that will be me.

What do you think of home births, birthing centers, hospital births? I'm not trying to start a debate here on what's better because I think situations are different for each person, but I am interested in knowing what avenue you chose or will choose.

Ok now on to the fun part--One person that may be fun to chat with is a birthing coach or mentor. Sounds a little weird right? Ok.. Maybe it's a little odd, but my fascination couldn't keep me from finding out what the heck that meant and I met Karen Angstad through Twitter and we were chatting about interesting things even before you get to the birth part! She even says she can help teach women how to experience a pain-free birth (and I wonder if the orgasmic births are on her list)! Oh yea, I'm going to be chatting with her about some cool stuff once I'm ready to turn my Baby Makin' Machine "ON!"

Well, after talking with Karen, she was nice enough to offer one of my readers a free one-hour mentor session with her! During your mentor session, discuss your desires, fears, and intentions in relation to your pregnancy, birth and mothering. This is for women pre-conception, mid-pregnancy or post partum (so that covers us all right?!). Uniquely tailored to each woman's needs, Karen's mentor program is focused on empowering each woman to trust in her body's ability to birth, connect to her inner knowing, and find the support and resources she needs to embrace the sacred journey of pregnancy and birth. Conscious parenting begins before birth.

How fun right? Someone to chat with about all this pre-conception, mid-pregnancy, and post labor stuff! She also has a lot of helpful information on her site about "How to expect what you're expecting" etc!

So leave a comment, tell me about your labor experiences or anticipations for the future and you'll be entered in to win the mentor session! Let me know if you follow me, Tweet about the contest, post, subscribe, have my button, or any of that other good stuff for extra entries. I'll draw a number via random.org and in touch with the winner and set you up with Karen. Giveaway ends June 30th. (I'll contact the winner and ask if they'd like to use/gift the session or if you don't need it, pass it to the next winner).

The Eye's on the Prize

I've been so busy, and mentally my mind is racing a million miles a minute. Some days I wonder how in the world I have time to blog--Ever! But I love it so much I just have to write something!

I was reading one of my journals the other day--One I kept right before and once I met my husband. It was funny reading what I thought about him when we first met. One thing I read that I thought was funny was how we were talking about "starting a family." We were contemplating it not long after we got married. I was ok with the idea, but I still wanted to "finish school, start my career, go 4-wheeling, jet skiing, and visit another country." I've done all of those things in the past year.

Next Tuesday we'll have officially been married for four and a half years! It's so crazy how time flies. Sometimes I still feel like a newlywed. One thing I've been thinking is I'm really going to kick up the notch with this Baby Bucket List of mine. I'm getting so much closer to turning my Baby Makin' Machine on, I can taste it! I've got a sorta-deadline in mind to try to make a baby, and completed list or not--I'm getting busy!

Pertaining to the list and deadline--I have fun news and exciting things in store soon, and I can't wait to put it all out here to share!

In other news, for the next little bit I've decided to spruce up some blog stuff around here. I know more of yall don't visit my blog for the giveaways cause... Well, I don't do many for one, and two... Frankly I think most of you like to help me out, give me advice and share your experiences rather than win a prize... Which is one reason I heart you!

One thing I want to do to show my gratitude I'm going to not only offer a feature the winner of the Mommy Moment contest, I'll also give a prize to the winner! Yep! Right now I'm into necklaces so the July winner will win a necklace from Haber HeartWork's Etsy Shop. I picked out this necklace for the winner:

It's a scrabble tile measures approximately .75" square. It's sealed with an acid-free, non-toxic, clear gloss sealant for a brilliant shine. It's handmade by the designer. The pendant includes free 18" Nickel plated steel 2.4mm ball chain and connector-made in USA. And it arrives in cotton lined small gift box with heartwork sticker.

Not a mom, or want a different necklace? Pick out your favorite from her shop instead.

So, want a feature on my blog as well as a an adorable button and beautiful necklace? Enter my Mommy Moment contest. Let me know your favorite "mommy moment" post this month!-- You don't have to be a mom to have a "momish moment." Don't have a mommy moment this month? Share with me a past post about your/a labor story instead. All of the entries will be featured on my site with links to the entry posts.

Leave me the link in the comments section of this post, or my first announcement post or email me at babymakingmachine(at)gmail.com. I have entries coming in already, so let me know yours! My guest judge, Kari from Alas 3 Lads will be reviewing the posts and choosing a favorite after June 25th. So get them to me before then!

FYI: Pendant is WELL SEALED but is NOT waterproof Small parts-not intended for young/small children.

***
And I almost forgot! Thanks to RANDOM.ORG the winner of my 6-month blogiversary contest where I gave away the necklace from CarrieAnneJone's Etsy Shop is commneter #28 Kathi! Who liked the same necklace I did! Congrats! And email me your info so I can get your prize shipped to you!

The Gender Prediction Test-- Intelligender

Do you want to know the gender of your baby before it's born? If you couldn't tell from some of my previous posts... I do. Not only that, but I've been reading up about sexual positions that will get me a girl first. I'm not one for surprises.

Yea, yea, when it comes down to it, I just want a healthy baby, but let's be honest... I want a girl I can dress up in dresses and bows.

Some of my older colleges ask "what every happened to the surprise?...Nowadays there's no real surprises in life, why not wait until the baby is born to find out the sex?" Good question... But to me, it's a surprise in the ultrasound room, or in the delivery room, and in my book... The sooner I find out, the better.

When I heard about Intelligender from a CNN article I knew it was something I wanted to try out for myself... but not being able to wait until I was pregnant, and having an expecting best friend who hasn't yet hit her 20-week mark, I decided she'd be my guinea pig.

She had a guess of what the gender would be since her mom is doing ultrasounds and at about 13 weeks she had a peek at the possible gender.--Although this test says it can predict as early as 10 weeks (with about a 70-85% accuracy rating).

I sent her the Intelligender test and had her promise me she'd call me before taking it. She had to use her first morning's urine, and I had just woken up when she called to turn my computer on... So you'll have to forgive my looks in this video. I tried to edit in as many pictures as I could so you wouldn't have to stare at my ugly sleepy face. Ok, so check it out!

So are you a believer yet? If you want to try it yourself you can pick one up at Wallgreens, CVS, HEB, and a bunch of other places, they're $40... But before you run off to buy one, see if you can just win my extra test and I'll ship it your way so you or your friend can end the suspense and see what you're having before your half-way mark! FYI... I can't find an expiration date on it so if you're not having a baby yet you could always save it *wink wink* *nudge nudge*

I'm going to try something a little different for this one... I've seen live giveaways before and I've always been intrigued by them, so we'll try it for this. Commenter #414. Why? Well because I just reached 400 followers, and because 14 is my favorite number.

Rules: You must first Tweet or facebook: "Hey! @babymakinmachin is doing a LIVE Giveaway for a cool gender prediction kit! http://tinyurl.com/mjmuls please RT!"

After that... You can comment as many times as you want but you must say a complete sentence. You can tell me why you want this, what you think of it, what you though of my video, your favorite food or leave some pre-mommy advice, whatever! Be creative! No spam though, I'll delete spam. So good luck! I'm turning comment moderation on so you can be sneaky :) But I'll be publishing a bunch of comments every now and then! So comment away!! ...a bunch!

Be nice and have fun!!

-4am update 7/2: I'm turning moderation off for a little while... I woke up to go to the bathroom and decided I won't moderate while I sleep to rack up those numbers while you can see where you're at!
-9:30am update 7/2: Leaving comment moderation off cause I'm going to be covering a fire a million miles away today. I'll turn it back on with I get back. Ok, so get the party going! I want to see us in the 200s when I get back!

-4:00pm update 7/2: Turning comment moderation back on... But adding prizes. Comments #100. #150 and #200 will win a prize... Not sure what yet, but I'll make it cool!... Maybe one of my baby headbands and some candy, or a hoge poge of stuff, like a pregnancy test from the dollar store and a candle, we'll see. I'll think about it tonight and let you know! Haha!
-12:20 am update 7/3: contest is over but it was a huge success! I'll FOR SURE be doing another very soon! Still let me know what you think of it--Any suggestions for next time and I'll think of another one. Also, get ready for my 400th follower giveaway, I'll be giving away at least 5 things a day Monday-Friday next week!!

Name? J

Blog Name? Babies and Battlefields

How many kids do you have? Two.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom? The quiet cuddly moments. But dancing around the house singing showtunes is pretty great too!

What is the hardest part about being a mom? Feeling like I don't have enough time to spend with my husband and, of course, being patient.

What is your blog about? A little bit of everything really. I talk about my kids, my relationship, social awkwardness, and the craziness that is my life!

How did you start blogging? I've been home with my kids for three years now and I had a lot of pent-up writing in my brain. I needed an outlet! How long have you had your blog? Since the end of May.

What are some tips for new bloggers?Hmmm, well I'm still a newbie myself but I like to just write what I feel and try not to censor myself for the most part.

Your 3 favorite posts you've written? Ten Things You Wish You Didn't Know About Me, Why I should live on Mars, and Baby Cuteness

Spread the love: 3 other blogs you love? That is a really difficult one, because I am obsessed with a lot of blogs right now. I guess if I narrow it down to Mommy Blogs, it seems like I'm always reading i come to the garden, My Life...or is it? and The Mahogany Way. And that's not including this blog of course! I can't wait to hear that Future Mama is pregnant!!!

You can see the list of last months' entries here. Well, it's that time of month again where you nominate your favorite post from this month. Your favorite "Mommy Moment" post that is! It can be anything relating to you, your child, your future child, or thoughts of your future children.--Be creative! I'm sure you post these all of the time... I know, I read them! Luckily I don't have to choose the winner though... Raquel, aka Quel, from Homegirl will have the difficult task of choosing her favorite!
The winner for July will get a beautiful necklace of your choice From iGotSquares Etsy! You can choose whichever one you like but I especially like this one cause it's a personal one of a picture of your choice... I'd put a picture of me, hubby and Snoop on mine, but you can choose whichever necklace you want!

So nominate away!! I'll take submissions until July 25th! if you don't want to post the link in the comments section you can email your favorite post you wrote to babymakinmachine{at}gmail.com.

The Breastfeeding Awareness Mommy Moment Contest

This month I'm doing the contest a little differently, and the winner will receive one of these... A Feeder Frock from LaDyLaDukes Etsy.

The Feeder Frock Was Specifically Designed to Help Moms Who Breastfeed in Public, Cover Their Backsides, and Nurse Their Babies Sitting, Standing or Moving! Sometimes, Moms Have to Chase Their Kids, or Push a Stroller, and Grab Things--Moms Have to Move!

If I wasn't totally sold on breastfeeding in public before I think this helps me with the idea. It's like a stylish shirt you can hide baby under! The style I'm featuring here is called Pop Princess and it's worth $59.99! But the winner gets to choose the style they want. And if you're not a mom like me... It can be a great gift (or something to save)!

Excited yet? My wonderful guest judge Sweet Wifey from Prissy Mommy will choose the winner for this contest. And this month for my contest your "Mommy Moment" doesn't have to be this month. You can write something up if you want or it can be anything you've written in the past, but I'm giving you a "momyish" topic to write on... Breastfeeding. It's breastfeeding awareness month and I thought it is only appropriate.

Here are the rules: Write up a post about breastfeeding, or find something you've written in the past. It can be any humorous/ informative/ opinionated post on breastfeeding you've written, or you can write it this month. Somewhere within the post put a link to this contest. I don't care how small it is just try to include it.
Then, you can share the link to your post with me in the comments section or email it to me. You can email your entry to babymakingmachine{at}gmail{dot}com. As I always say you DON'T have to be a mom to win! Anwayone can have a "mommy moment" and anyone can have an opinion on breastfeeding, so have fun with it! I'll also link up all of the entries so everyone can read in the order I receive them!

You have until August 30th to enter so go write write write!

Again, the winner will get a fashionable breastfeeding Feeder Frock of their choice from LaDyLaDuke and a feature on my site, and my guest judge Sweet Wifey from Prissy Mommy will choose the winner. Oh, and no, she is NOT accepting bribes! Good luck!

What do you think? Excited about the topic?

Ok, now on to July's winner!:
I always have such a fun time reading your "mommy moments" from moms to moms-to-be future moms! I share my stories here but I love reading yours! I've asked you to throughout the month, be on the lookout for post you've written about being a mom. And to share your favorite mommy moment with me!

I got a lot of entries and all of them were beautiful! Some were funny and others were clever! Luckily I had my friend Quel aka my HomeGirl be the judge so I wouldn't have to make the tough decision!

She loved them all and this month the winner is...

Dyar Baby Momma with 'Bunnies Eat Cereal'

And she wins a beautiful customizable photo tile necklace from iGotSquares Etsy, and later this month I'll be featuring her! So be sure to check her out and send her congrats!

Here are the honorable mentions:
Liz from (Loving Mom 2 Boys) with 'Fabulous Weekend'
Little Nut Tree with "The Things they Say"
John Deere Mom with "Rite of Passage"
supah ~d with "Week Madness"
~M~ with "Nanny Nanny Boo Boo"

So be sure to check out all of these wonderful posts and share some comment love!

Aren't feeling lucky? LaDyLaDuke is having a sale all month and is offering 1/2 off gift certificate purchases with a Frock purchase.

The Website I LOVE!: And Swag Love

It's hard to find people who understand me. Especially people I normally associate myself with in day to day life.

Just last night I was downtown with a group of friends, listening to live music at a bar feeling like I was in a different world. I wasn't drinking, (not that it's THAT uncommon), and (no joke) really just thinking what I'd be doing right then if I had a kid.

It wasn't that way the entire night. I had fun. But it really wasn't ME. Not anymore at least. I'd had my spurts as a city girl, loving to be out all of the time. But really, I'm a homebody. And I think blogging has helped me find other homebodies like me who would sometimes prefer to be home watching a movie with their little family than spending a night out on the town.

For awhile I would browse the web and find adorable blogs I love with moms and their cute babies. Or women who were trying to have cute babies. And other stuff... I still do!

I'd also find websites geared towards moms, and keep hearing about all of this "mommy blogging" craze yea yea yea!! But what about women like ME?! Seriously, I know I'm not the only one out here who is THINKING about having a child but not TRYING to!

Maybe I'm one of the only ones who is very vocal about it. Hey... I don't mind. But it's nice to find information out there for us every now and then you know?

Well, a few months ago I found this website... ConceiveOnline.com and I fell in love. You may have seen their magazine, but their website is awesome too!

Finally a site for women preparing to be mothers, or trying to conceive. But what's better?--They recently started a free community for everyone to join called My Conceive. Kind of like a Myspace for a network of women... But no drama! haha. I've already found lots of advice from women and had a great time "meeting" people in the same shoes as me! There's a great forum with a plethora of advice, and a great place you can chat with other women about all things baby-makin.

If you're looking to have a child in the near future... First second, third, whatever, or are experiencing infertility I HIGHLY recommend joining their group. Lots of great resources! And even in you're private about your baby-makin' business, you can join and just read the forums. There's great words of advice and encouragement given to others and it helps!
I also have a blog there too called Ready or Not. Yes, it's sometimes hard to believe there's MORE I can write about on this topic but there is. It's something I've really become passionate and excited about. Just recently they interviewed me on their Conceive on-air radio show, about my planning and blogging... And more planning. You can listen to it here. But I'm not the only blogger for the website. There are several others who blog about their struggles with infertility, or trying "organic fertility practices" also, there are a few women who have gotten pregnant since blogging for Conceive and they're blogging about that experience too.

They were one of my sponsors for Blogher this year and I had so much fun going around and telling people about them and my blog. They even gave me goodies to share like pens and hand sanitizers and things like that with the Conceive logo on it and I saved some for you. Oh, there's a back massager too (get your man to use that on you!) It also comes in a nice carrying bag I think is great for the pool or beach, or even as a makeup bag! I've also throw in some yummy Bellybars (I'll be telling you more about them soon) and two baby headbands made by ME! The bonus is a pregnancy test!! Woohoo! Hopefully it'll be the one to tell you good news (whatever you want that to be right now).

So let's call this the Conceive Goodie bag!!

Here's the list of what's in the prize:
A carrying bag from Conceive
A Conceive pen
A Conceive hand sanitizer bottle (great to keep in your purse and use whenever)
A Conceive back massager
A pregnancy test- I hope you get the answer you're looking for. I'm sending this with LUCK!
2 baby headbands made by ME!
2 Baby Needs Chocolate Bellybars (I eat these all the time, they're great for folic acid! and yummy)
(cute baby not included, that's an example of my headbands)

So if you're interested just leave a comment! If you follow leave 2!
*NEW* Comment on a Conceive blog post of mine or any of the other Conceive Bloggers for another 2 entries (per comment)!
**And if you join MyConceive (it's free) you get 3 extra entries!**

You get extra entries if you:
Follow me on Twitter
Subscribe
Vote for me in one of those contests to the right
Become a Facebook fan of my blog
Become a Facebook fan of Conceive

I'll close the giveaway a week from today August 20th!

Mommy Moments of September!

Below is a list of Mommy Moments for September. As you write a post about your family (or future family) post the link here so we all can read it! Remember, you don't have to be a mom to have a "Mommy Moment" in my book!

Write a post about a crazy moment, a precious moment, or anything that reminds you or represents motherhood to you. It can be a story, a photo, a movie, poem, or anything your heart desires!

Kayce from Kayce's Doula Journey is this month's lovely judge. She had a great blog with a plethora of information and advice about pregnancy, labor and beyond! I just love chatting with her about all of my pregnancy questions!

At the end of a month she will choose a winner who will get a BEAUTIFUL $100 tote/ diaper bag of choice from Couturière (depending on your motherhood status would deem how you'd use it). Every lady wants to be stylish!

"Couturière is a premier line of baby accessories specializing in handmade diaper bags that make a statement.
We are based in the Metro Atlanta area. Our mission is to create a unique, eye-catching product that appeals to the style-savvy mom, while catering to the baby’s needs."

More info about the bag: The Kaasy Bag is the first creation in Tamara's premier line of Couturière baby products. Its dimensions are approximately 15” x 17” x 5”. Each bag comes with a matching changing Pad, and 3 clear vinyl inside pockets (2 elastic and 1 larger pocket). All diaper bags are lined with oil cloth to protect the bag’s exterior.

The winner will also get a feature on Baby Makin(g) Machine! Somewhere in your post just please leave a link to this post. No biggie, anything small will work. Good luck, and have fun with it! Please link DIRECTLY to the post you want to be judged.

If you'd rather you can email your entry to babymakingmachine{at}gmail.com. At the end of the month I'll feature all of the entries in another post with the first few sentences of your post like I did here. Thank you so much for sharing your Mommy Moment with everyone! I can't wait to read them all!

This contest has ended but you can link up to the October list HERE.
